Accessibility statement
The Patina Record aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, the standard the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) builds on (it requires WCAG 2.0 AA).
How we test
- Every new or changed page is checked with axe-core against WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2 A and AA rules before it ships. The main public pages currently show no violations.
- Pages are checked at phone and desktop widths, with no sideways scrolling and tap targets of at least 24 px.
- Keyboard use is checked by hand: every control can be reached and used, and the focus ring is always visible.
- Status is never shown by colour alone: every status has a written label.
What works well
- Every property has a text page with its status, source and history, so the map is never the only way in.
- Search finds a property by address or name without using the map.
- Reports, research records and status statements print cleanly and save as PDF.
- Key pages are available in French.
Known limits
- The interactive map is visual. Everything on it is also on property pages, city pages and the watchlist, which work with screen readers.
- Documents we link to (municipal by-laws, agendas and registers) are published by municipalities and may not be accessible. We can help you find the same information in text.
- Charts on some pages have a written summary or table next to them; a few smaller charts do not yet.
