Record it before it's gone

The volunteer archive

Thousands of listed buildings lose heritage protection on January 1, 2027. Volunteers are writing down what makes them matter: who built them, who lived there, and which of Ontario's nine heritage criteria they meet. Every record here was reviewed before publishing and stays online, whatever happens to the building.

The first records are on their way

Pick a listed building on the map, choose “Help save it”, and send your record for review when it's ready. It will be one of the first in the archive.

Records are written by volunteers, not by municipalities, and reviewed by The Patina Record before they appear. Spot a problem? Email hello@thepatinarecord.ca and we'll look at it quickly. Not legal advice.
